Free Our Buffalo is a national movement created to raise public awareness of an ongoing buffalo slaughter conducted every year since 1985. Below are some interesting photo's of an actual hazing taking place. Most of these occur in the dead of winter and out of the public eye.

Slaughtering buffalo simply looking for a place to graze when starving, is indeed just as senseless and cruel as it was in the nineteenth-century. The ironic part today is that these atrocities are being carried out with public tax money in Yellowstone National Park and the State of Montana. Also the acts are being done on public land surrounding the park, as a buffer zone for the buffalo. The adjacent areas around the park are leased to cattle ranchers by the federal government. This translates to a denial of prime feeding grounds to starving buffalo that migrate there in the most severe of winters.

Hazing Operations

Hazing operations have utilized every method from horseback to snowmobile, and from trucks to 4-wheelers that pursue and chase these buffalo to the point of complete exhaustion. The stress they incur from these constant events is more than anyone could imagine possible. No other animal in the United States has ever, or will ever be, the subject to such cruel and inhumane treatment.

On the purpose of "NO FREE GRAZING" .

That is to say on land they feel is exclusively there to feed Montana cattle. This is a thought that goes back to the early range wars of the nineteenth-century. Fighting and killing over land for the simple purpose of making money.

After an exhausting chase, the buffalo are taken to a capture facility. Here they are seperated from other family members and killed. A final end comes to these unfortunate buffalo. Below is the guillotine the buffalo are forced into at the capture facility.

An organization run by Native American's out of West Yellowstone. Their deepest concern is over the killing of buffalo that are the last original gene pool left in existance. They have fought hard to get legislation to prevent these atrocities. The legislation that did pass was not adhered to by U.S. Wildlife agents of Yellowstone and Department of Livestock agents from the State of Montana. This website will back the Buffalo Field Campaign's tireless efforts.

Below is a list of buffalo that were slaughtered since 1985. The vast majority of the American public is unaware the slaughters take place at all. Perhaps it is a lack of communication on the subject. Or maybe, up until this point, there has been a greater instilled fear of stepping forward and ending up alone. Or perhaps still, one feels this is an inconvenience and this won't amount to anything. The underlying truth is simple. Remember, as the buffalo are still being slaughtered for the reasons of a deception of the truth, so are young American men and women falling on foreign soil for the same senseless reason.

We as a free and civilized people have nothing to fear but the word fear itself. Knowledge of the truth gives us this power. The government bodies that inflict cruelty and suffering to buffalo and their newborn- run them in the dead of winter over a lake where they fall through the ice and many drown, and commit inhumane treatments after capture, are in the almighty eyes of God -- WRONG!

Take a moment and view the list carefully. It is hard to imagine just how long these government departments were allowed to commit these acts. It is time America, to stand up and be counted. What they are doing to the buffalo - they are doing to you and your children. You will will notice in the charts this is a situation out of control. Our control.
